CE QU'EN DISAIT
LE VENDEUR
|
- Up for bid is this
rare, hard to find, complete 1960 Ford Comet 4 door
station wagon. This is not a Mercury Comet. In 1960 Comet
cars were built by the Ford Motor Company. In 1961
Mercury took over the Comet line of cars and built them
under the Mercury name. This car has no body damage from
any prior accidents, which also means it has no body
putty anywhere on it. It has 100% of its original chrome
which is all in excellent condition except for the rear
bumper, it is toast.
- There are a couple of
places with slight rust out. Low on both front fenders,
in front on the doors, there is a small area of rust out.
This is a common problem due to mud hanging up on the
bottom fender bracket where it bolts to the car and says
moist. The right side rear quarter panel, by the rear
tire also has a small area of rust out. All of these
areas can easily be fixed. The rocker panels and the rest
of the car appear to be as solid as it was when
new.
- This car is 100%
complete, I can find nothing missing. For some reason
someone removed the rear (tailgate) window but the
window, crank and window regulator are inside the
car.
- The floor boards are
also in remarkable condition with absolutely no rust.
They are also as solid as the day it was built, due to
the car having a factory undercoat when the car was new.
This is a one owner car, bought in Chinook MT in 1960 by
a local resident. He drove it until 1978 when he told me
he parked it because it was getting hard to start. The
odometer shows 71220 miles and the owner told me that
this was actual, accurate mileage.
- This Comet station
wagon has the original 144 c.i. engine with the original
3-speed manual column shift transmission and a 3.50
locking rear axle. This means the car, engine,
transmission and rear axle are all original matching
numbers!
- If you have been
looking for a car that is a real head turner restoring
this rare 1960 Ford Comet should do the trick. As I said
above, this station wagon is 100% complete so whoever
restores this one doesn't have to spend much time looking
for parts. Investing in this car is better than investing
in the stock market because its value will only increase.
Please feel free to ask questions.
- Car is sold as is
where is. There is no time limit on when the car has to
be picked up and there will be no storage fees charged to
winning bidder. I recommend car be trailered to your
location.
