e-bay,

- Vehicle Description :
1941 Bantam 2 door convertible sedan Rivera. Blue
body with light blue interior. Enamel finish. White
top. This car is being listed for a friend whom you
may call direct with your questions. Fred purchased
this car out of a farmers barn over 30 years ago.
It was the kind of find that most of us will just dream
about now. The car was covered with years of dirt
and grime but remarkably complete with low miles.
Fred cleaned it out, undercoated the body, had it
repainted, rebuilt the brakes, overhauled the engine, and
had the top and upholstery replaced. The upholstery
work was done by McVickers here in Lincoln.
McVicker is deceased now but did quality work for
years. We had a car done by him in the 70s as well
and were quite pleased. The paint was done by a
local shop, the operator of which is long deceased also.
The hole in cowl under the hood is not original but was
made to allow repair of the gas tank unit. Rather
than weld it shut, it was left open in case future access
is needed. The odometer reflects original mileage
on the car. Fred estimates he has driven it less
than 2000 miles since restoring it. He is no longer
able to drive it and would like to find a new owner to
appreciate and preserve it. The car has fender
skirts and dual tail lights. Fred was a repairman
for years and made a few improvements. He added an
electric water pump and a temperature gauge which is
mounted below the dash. The car has always run cool
as a result. He also added dual horns which sound
great. The non script clock rear view mirror was a
NOS accessory Fred found and installed. The car has
always been garaged and covered with a custom made cover
which is included. I noticed a couple small holes
in the cover that could be patched. The zipout
plexiglass rear window is there also. You will
notice the hood wasn't latched in the photos. The
hood latches and aligns normally. The latch lever
on these cars is under the dash and firmly spring
loaded. If you're not careful it is a finger
pincher. When the photos were taken, the car was
just out for that purpose and they didn't think to latch
the hood. You can call Fred at 402-477-3572 between
9 AM and 10 PM CST. His answer machine sometimes
kicks in before he gets to the phone so don't hang
up. As you start to leave a message he will usually
pick up.
- This is a very good
older restoration. It has run periodically to keep
things in working order but has not been driven an great
distance in recent years. A longtime friend and
retired mechanic stores the car for Fred. He states
the mechanical brakes work quite well and the car is a
delight to drive. All the gauges and lights worked
when driven last summer. This is a very cute car,
not a perfect show car. It is an attractive and
unusual car that will draw attention when you take it
out. When you inspect it closely you can find a few
minor paint chips and flaws. The most noticeable is
the scuff on the right front fender as shown
in photo.Otherwise the finish is very good.
The windshield is original and has some very slight
checking around the edges. Fred called that to my
attention and otherwise I wouldn't have noticed.
Fred also said the chrome on the passenger door window
needs repair, but all I could see was some slight rust
spots starting to appear. Fred did a good
job matching the original color considering
they had to use paint chips. It appears to
me the cowl under the hood has original paint.
Car has never had a heater.
