PRODUCTION : fabrication de 40606 Corvette, toutes Sport Coupe au prix de base de $16259 16 options, les plus demandées étant 36485 jeus de jantes alu pour $428, 36322 fermetures centralisée des portières pour $145, 32903 l'antenne électrique pour $55 et 32522 le cruise control pour $155 quatre radios sont proposés dont la plus complète AM/FM/K7/CB est un supplément de $750 CE QUI CHANGE EN 1981: pour la première fois le siège électrique apparait c'est aussi le premier modèle à etre fabriqué en deux endroits différents: Saint Louis et Bowling Green il n'y a q'un seul moteur, le L81 de 350ci et 190cv (tout au moins au niveau de la commande officielle) Extérieurement le logo change pour un autre plus... léger COULEUR : il y a un panel de 9 couleurs simples, 9 couleurs métallisées et 4 bicolores soit 22 choix au total sur les deux sites de production simples: blanc (le plus demandé avec 6387 ex), 4712 noir, 4310 rouge Green (Kentucky - USA) en avril 2001
